The Wentzville Parks and Recreation Department and the Water Division have partnered to offer a scholarship in recognition of art and water conservation to assist deserving high school seniors who intend to pursue higher education at an accredited community college, four-year college or university. Participants from Holt, Timberland, Liberty and North Point high schools, as well as a Wentzville resident high school senior enrolled in a private school or home-school program, competed to design and decorate a themed fire hydrant. This year’s theme was “Earth’s Elements.”
Congratulations to all the winners, and thank you to everyone who participated in this year`s contest!

Why is there a drone flying over my neighborhood?
Great question! You may have seen a drone being used by the City’s Engineering Department as part of an effort to improve how we inspect and maintain pavement across Wentzville.
We’re using drone technology to safely and efficiently assess concrete pavement conditions (slabs)— something that used to be done manually with utility task vehicles (UTVs) on the road. Now, drones can capture high-quality pictures and video from above, helping us to drastically speed up inspections while keeping our crews off busy streets.
Our drones are flown by an FAA licensed remote pilot at safe heights typically 100-350 above ground level. Our pilots follow all FAA regulations and are only used in areas where aerial inspection is appropriate. This almost always means the drone is flying in the right of way. On the rare occasion when flight over private property is required, the operator uses the easement between houses. We’re excited to use this advanced tool to help maintain and improve Wentzville’s infrastructure.
Please note, the City of Wentzville never uses drone footage for property inspections.
