Adopt a Spot

The Adopt-a-Spot Program creates a cleaner, more pleasant environment for all who live, work and shop in the City of Wentzville. It’s a great way for neighbors and merchants to work together to keep our City beautiful.

It’s easy to get involved: choose to remove litter or beautify a designated street, park area, lake, stream access or other area in need of attention.

Who can Adopt a Spot?

Any interested person or group that has the enthusiasm and dedication to make our community a better place to live can adopt a spot! Children are also encouraged to participate along with sufficient adult supervision. We also welcome:

  • Businesses and business organizations
  • Neighborhood associations
  • Community and civic organizations
  • Church groups
  • School groups or clubs
  • Families

What do Volunteers do?

Volunteers can choose to remove litter or beautify a designated street, park area, lake, stream access or other location in need of attention.  You can commit to participate for a one time event or 6 or 12 months. Projects can involve:

If you have an idea for a beautification project, please let us know!

Acknowledgment and Recognition

Participants committing to adopt a spot for 12 months or longer will be recognized on personalized signage located at their adopted spot.  The signs will be installed after completing the first cleanup or beautification activity, and will remain for the duration of their commitment.  Groups may also be acknowledged in the City’s Vision newsletter and/or on this website.

The Adoption Process

1
Request Spot to be Adopted

Contact the Adopt-a-Spot Coordinator by filling out the Adopt-a-Spot Request Form. Please note the first cleanup need to be scheduled with at least two weeks notice due to supply needs.

2
Submit Agreement

If you will be participating in the program for at least six months an Adopt-a-Spot Agreement will be sent to you to be signed after the request form is submitted and approved.

3
Schedule Your Activity

Once your request is confirmed and Adopt-a-Spot agreement is approved as needed, we will arrange a time to do your first cleanup or beautification project. Please schedule your event and arrange for supply pickup (i.e. trash bags, safety vests and gloves) two weeks before by submitting a request here.

All volunteers must sign a Volunteer Waiver in order to participate. This form will be sent to you after the event is scheduled.

4
Share Your Success

Following each cleanup, return supplies, waivers and share your accomplishments by submitting a Cleanup Report. If you cannot dispose trash of the bags, please leave them in a pile along a roadway and note that pickup is needed on your cleanup report.

Volunteers are encouraged to monitor conditions at their adopted spot and report any problems when the report form is submitted. If it is an urgent issue please call the Wentzville Police Department Dispatch Non-Emergency line: (636) 327-5105 or for Emergencies: 911.
