Holiday Schedule
Trash, recycling and yard-waste collection through Meridian Waste observes up to six major holidays each year. However, if the holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday, the schedule will not be affected. Solid waste holidays may include:
- New Year’s Day
- Memorial Day
- Independence Day (July 4th)
- Labor Day
- Thanksgiving Day
- Christmas Day
If one of the listed holidays occurs Monday through Friday, pickup days will occur one day later than normal after the holiday. Again, if the holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday, the schedule will not be impacted.
For example, if New Year’s Day falls on a Tuesday, then trash, recycling and/or yard-waste collection will be delayed by one day. This means that residents with regular pickup scheduled on Monday will be collected as usual. However, Tuesday’s collection will be picked up on Wednesday, Wednesday’s collection will be picked up on Thursday, Thursday’s collection will be picked up on Friday, and Friday’s collection will be picked up on the Saturday following the holiday. The following holidays do not affect trash, recycling and/or yard-waste collection: Martin Luther King Day, Presidents Day, Good Friday or Veterans Day.
