Building Inspections

Once your permit is issued, you may request an inspection online or (636) 327-5101. Inspections are offered Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. till 3 p.m. with a break for lunch. The permit number (located at the top of the permit card) is required when requesting an inspection. Inspections must be called in by 3 p.m. of the proceeding day for next day service. A  24-48 hours notice is required to ensure that your inspection is at the date and time necessary. Scheduling is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Please be aware the following days are observed holidays for the calendar year, City offices will be closed. No inspections will be performed on:

  • January 1
  • January  15
  • February  19
  • March 29
  • May 27
  • June 19
  • July 4
  • September 2
  • October 14
  • November 28-29
  • December 24 and 25

New House

  • Footing
  • Foundation
  • Sewer Lateral
  • Ground Rough Plumbing
  • Complete Rough
  • Final Building
  • Yard Inspection – are required to be completed by the Engineering Division to obtain a Full Occupancy, see the requirements at Plot Plan Review and Yard Inspections.

Miscellaneous

  • Fence:  Locate and Final
  • Deck: Pier, Rough Framing (If deck low to ground must be done before final) and Final
  • Shed:  Locate and Final
  • Above Ground Pool: Locate, Rough Electric and Final  
  •  In-Ground Pool:  Locate (Soils Letter is required),  Rough Plumbing,  Rough Electric (bonding ) and  Final
  • Finished Basement: Complete Rough and Final
  • Retaining Walls over 4′: Locate, Geo Grid and Final
  • Driveway: Forms and Final
  • Foundation Repair:  Footing and Final
  • Hot Tub: Locate and Final
  • Solar panels: Rough Electric and Final

Commercial

New Commercial Building, Tenant Finish, Alteration or Addition

  • Footing
  • Foundation
  • Sewer Lateral
  • Ground Rough Plumbing
  • Complete Rough
  • Final Building

  • Accessory Building/Shed: Locate and Final
  • Deck: Pier, Rough Framing (If deck low to ground must be done before final) and Final

  • New Electric, Plumbing or HVAC: Varies on work

  • Sewer/Water install or repairs: Varies on work
  • Solar panels: Rough Electric and Final
  • Interior/Exterior Remodels: Varies on work
