Citizen of the Year

Overview
The Citizen Recognition Program was created by the Citizen of the Year Committee of Wentzville to acknowledge outstanding individuals and groups that make a significant contribution, a positive impact, or improving the quality of life for citizens in the community. Applications are accepted year-round. Please review the items below including eligibility, nomination procedures, etc. To nominate someone, please complete the Citizen of the Year Nomination Form.
Purpose and Objective
- To ensure that outstanding Wentzville citizens are recognized in the presence of their peers by providing a venue to honor their achievements.
Eligibility
- Nominee must reside in the City limits of Wentzville or be a Wentzville business owner for the last 12 months.
- May only receive award once in a lifetime.
- Can not be a member of the nominating Committee, Board of Aldermen or City of Wentzville staff.

Nomination Procedure
- Nomination packages will be available from City Hall and on the City’s website www.wentzvillemo.gov;
- Nominations must be submitted before the annual deadline of October 31 and any submitted past this date will be for the next year;
- All nominations will be reviewed to see if they meet eligibility requirements and are complete;
- All nominations will be submitted to the Citizen Recognition Award Committee.
- The Committee will make it’s recommendation to the Mayor for their selection of the “Citizen of the Year Award” from the individuals nominated by the public.
- The Mayor shall make the final decision of the Citizen of the Year Award recipient, subject to approval of the Board of Aldermen.
- The award winner will be recognized in City publications, on the website and where applicable on social media, etc, at a Board of Aldermen meeting and in the Fourth of July Parade.
