We Are Wentzville

The Comprehensive Plan is a community-driven plan that guides the long-term development of our City. Since the last Comprehensive Plan update in 2018, which was updated by the July 2022 supplement document, Wentzville has experienced a population increase of 27% and continued our growth in ways that require thoughtful planning to ensure we remain a vibrant, well-connected community. For details on the current Comp Plan updates please view the information below on questions, the schedule, videos and more!

Comprehensive Plan Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Why is Wentzville updating its Comprehensive Plan?

Wentzville remains one of the fastest-growing communities, with a population increase of approximately 27% since the last Comprehensive Plan update in 2018, which is reflected in the July 2022 supplement document. While the current plan has served as a valuable guide and remains highly relevant, comprehensive plans should be reviewed and updated periodically to reflect the latest trends in population, economic conditions and other key data. The updated Comprehensive Plan will provide a policy framework to guide future decisions related to land use, transportation, utilities, parks and recreation, economic development, and community services, helping to shape growth and development in Wentzville over the next decade.

Q. How long will the planning process last?

The planning process began in summer 2025 and is expected to continue through late summer 2026.

Q. What are the benefits of a Comprehensive Plan?

The Comprehensive Plan serves as the City’s primary policy document for decision-making, particularly in guiding and managing future growth. For City departments, it helps direct capital improvements, including transportation investments and utility planning. For the Planning and Zoning Commission, it provides guidance on rezoning requests, land-use policies and changes to subdivision regulations. For businesses, it offers confidence to existing and prospective businesses in considering expansion or new development. For residents, the Comprehensive Plan sets expectations for City decision-making, including where future growth is likely to occur.

Q. How can I be involved in the process?

Great question! Public involvement is an important part of this process. There will be multiple inperson open houses for the community to attend, as well as a Citywide survey in 2025. In addition, the planning team will meet with a wide range of community stakeholders, businesses and organizations. Visit www.WeAreWentzville.org to stay informed and up to date.

Q. How do I learn more about the Comprehensive Plan or review materials?

Visit www.WeAreWentzville.org to stay up to date on the plan. The website will include updates about the process, schedule, and materials to review as they become available.
