Temporary Water Service Shutdown On Monday, Oct. 26
Oct. 16, 2026
Public Water Supply District #2 (PWSD #2), one of the City’s water suppliers, is completing a major infrastructure project that will add a new 30-inch water transmission main to the City’s primary water supply connection. This investment will strengthen the infrastructure supporting Wentzville’s water system.
Weather permitting, work is scheduled to begin early Monday, Oct. 26, and will require a temporary shutdown of the City’s primary water supply connection. Wentzville customers will continue to receive water service, though they may experience reduced pressure during the work. This will require a Citywide precautionary boil advisory beginning Tuesday, Oct. 27, which will remain in effect until water quality test results are received.
When will the work take place?
PWSD #2 anticipates beginning work early Monday, Oct. 26, weather permitting. The connection is expected to take approximately 24 hours, with additional time required for water quality testing.
Will I have water during the shutdown?
The City has water storage and well production facilities that will help maintain service during the shutdown. However, conserving water will be important to help maintain adequate system pressure.
How can I help conserve water?
Customers are asked to limit nonessential water use during the shutdown, including irrigation, laundry and other high-volume water activities.
Why will a precautionary boil advisory be necessary?
To help maintain adequate water system pressure, the City may need to restore its primary water supply connection before required bacteriological testing is complete. A precautionary boil advisory will be necessary until satisfactory test results are received.
When will the advisory take effect?
The City will announce when the precautionary boil advisory officially takes effect and when it is lifted.
How long will the advisory last?
The advisory will remain in effect until satisfactory bacteriological test results are received and the City officially lifts it.
