The boardwalk at Heartland Park was closed in 2023 due to safety concerns related to the structure. Wentzville Parks and Recreation appreciates the public’s patience during what has been a prolonged closure. As of September, 2025 renovation of the boardwalk has begun.
The work includes replacing the hand railing, composite decking and deck joists. The updated boardwalk will be the same design as before.
During construction, guests at Heartland Park can expect intermittent restricted access to parts of the park. Visitors can also expect to see contractors, construction equipment and materials being transported throughout the park. Sections of trails will be closed intermittently for guests and worker safety. We expect a trail closure near the boardwalk to be necessary in mid-October due to construction equipment.
