Rotary Park Master Plan

Rotary Park Master Plan

The City has recently acquired 191-acres of land adjacent to the existing park and has engaged a planning consultant to develop a comprehensive master plan for future enhancements. This planning effort will focus on enhancing Rotary Park’s amenities while introducing new features to serve the needs of the community and region. With the addition of a 44-acre agricultural parcel to the west and a 147-acre pasture and woodland parcel to the north, Rotary Park will grow to approximately 302-acres — nearly tripling its size.

Community input has played an important role in shaping the Rotary Park Master Plan process. The first community survey, conducted this winter, received more than 1,100 responses from residents and park users about the venues, activities, amenities and experiences they would like to see at an enhanced and expanded Rotary Park. Additional feedback was also gathered during Flights and Bites on Friday, April 10, where initial planning ideas for the newly acquired land were shared with the community.

Based on this input, a Draft Master Plan has now been created to help guide future park improvements and amenities. The draft plan introduces an overall planning approach for the expanded park, including the organization of the park into three complementary areas: Passive, Active and Event zones. These areas are intended to support a variety of community needs, including natural resource preservation, trails and recreation, family- and youth-oriented spaces, accessibility and opportunities for community events.

The City is now seeking community feedback on the Draft Master Plan as it continues to evolve. Residents are encouraged to review the proposed plan and complete the new survey to share their thoughts on the Passive, Active and Event areas. Feedback gathered through this survey will help refine the plan and guide the final design for the future of Rotary Park.

Heartland Park Boardwalk

The boardwalk at Heartland Park was closed in 2023 due to safety concerns related to the structure. Wentzville Parks and Recreation appreciates the public’s patience during what has been a prolonged closure. As of September, 2025 renovation of the boardwalk has begun.

The work includes replacing the hand railing, composite decking and deck joists. The updated boardwalk will be the same design as before.

During construction, guests at Heartland Park can expect intermittent restricted access to parts of the park. Visitors can also expect to see contractors, construction equipment and materials being transported throughout the park. Sections of trails will be closed intermittently for guests and worker safety. We expect a trail closure near the boardwalk to be necessary in mid-October due to construction equipment.

Fireman’s Park Pickleball Courts and Cornhole Boards

The ribbon cutting ceremony for the first four pickleball courts and cornhole boards was completed on June 26, 2023. It has created a place for those who enjoy pickleball a place to play year-round when the indoor courts are unavailable during the summer. This project was completed primarily in-house by Wentzville’s Parks Division.

Four more pickleball courts are still planned which will eventually being the total number of courts at this park to eight. There is not yet an estimated date of completion for the remaining courts.
