Road Closure – Route Z under Interstate 70
The Missouri Department of Transportation will close Route Z under Interstate 70 in Wentzville starting Friday, June 6, as part of the Improve I-70 Warrenton to Wentzville Project. All work is weather-permitting.
Route Z will be closed nightly under the I-70 overpass from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. to widen the I-70 bridge over Route Z. All entrance and exit ramps at Route Z will remain open. Nightly closures are expected to continue through August 2025.
Ramp impacts during the nightly closures:
-If you are heading westbound on I-70 and exit at the Route Z exit, you will only be able to go northbound on Church Street or get back onto westbound I-70.
-If you are heading southbound on Church St, you will only be able to go westbound on I-70.
-If you are heading eastbound on I-70 and exit at Route Z, you will only be able to head south on Route Z.
-If you are heading northbound on Route Z, you will only be able to access eastbound I-70
This work is part of the reconstruction of Interstate 70, which will add a third lane in each direction and realign I-70 between Wentzville Parkway and Route Z.
MoDOT to begin work at Route 61 and Interstate 70
The Missouri Department of Transportation will begin construction of a new auxiliary lane on Route 61 near the Interstate 70/Interstate 64 interchange in Wentzville on Thursday, May 29, as part of the Improve I-70 Warrenton to Wentzville Project. All work is weather-permitting.
The right lane of both northbound and southbound Route 61 will be closed nightly from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. from Pitman Avenue to Route A. The right shoulder will also be closed around the clock to allow for the construction of the auxiliary lane. This work is expected to be completed in Sept. 2025.
Crews will also be working on grading at the I-70/I-64 interchange nightly from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. For additional information, please visit www.modot.org/improvei70.
Wentzville Parkway Turn Lane Project – Meyer Road to Parkway Ridge Blvd
Work will begin on the Wentzville Parkway Turn Lane Phase 2A the week of May 5. This project consists of full pavement replacement and widening between Meyer Road and Parkway Ridge Blvd. There will be a sidewalk and multi-use trail constructed on the north and south side of the roadway with continuous street lighting. This project will be similar to the already completed projects west of Meyer Road along Wentzville Parkway.
Due to the full pavement replacement, Wentzville Parkway will be reduced to 1 lane in each direction for the majority of the project duration. Phase 1 of the project will consist of the widening and pavement replacement in the current westbound lanes. Traffic will be shifted to the current eastbound lanes. Future phases will shift south as Phase 2 will be working in the middle lane and then Phase 3 will be the existing eastbound lanes. The project will be ongoing through late fall this year.
We encourage the traveling public to seek alternative routes during this project as traffic will be impacted during this necessary improvement project. This project is part of the City’s Capital Improvement Plan.
Huntleigh Drive – Road Closure
Beginning Monday, May 5, the Street Department will perform concrete slab replacements along Huntleigh Drive. The work is expected to take place daily from 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. This project is expected to last approximately six weeks. During this time, Huntleigh Drive at Scotti Road will be closed and a detour will be set up diverting traffic through Huntleigh Parkway. After 3:30 p.m. each day, Huntleigh Drive will open back up for southbound traffic only until work resumes the following day. A map of the construction area and detour can be viewed here.
Peine Road – Partial Road Closure
Beginning the week of June 9, a partial road closure is planned on Peine Road between Westhaven Boulevard and Stewart Springs Drive to facilitate a utility line to cross Peine Road. The asphalt pavement is anticipated to be repaired as soon as the utility line crossing Peine Road construction work is complete. This is not a complete closure of Peine Road, as the two-lane road will be condensed down to one lane during the daytime during construction activities. There may be infrequent instances where traffic is stopped in both directions for a brief period of time. Two lanes will be open at night and outside of working hours, via steel plates. A map of the construction area can be viewed here.
