Solid Waste, Recycling and Yard-Waste Collection
The City contracts residential services for solid waste, recycling and yard-waste collection through Meridian Waste. The City’s contract with Meridian Waste provides a high level of service for all households at lower rates. Collection costs are consolidated with the water and sewer service monthly bill. New rates will go into effect on Jan. 1, 2024. To view the rate sheet, please click here.
Services include weekly trash and recycling collection. Additionally, residents can add on seasonal yard-waste pickup and schedule large-item pickups. All items are collected on the same day in their own separate containers. Items should be placed at the curb by 6 a.m. on your scheduled pickup day. Please be sure that all items are placed inside your waste cart and the lid is completely closed. Objects, including cardboard, outside of waste carts will not be collected.

*Up to three additional (40-gallon) trash bags may be placed outside of your cart weekly and are included in your monthly solid waste fees. An additional $2.50 per-bag charge will be added to your bill for each bag over three per week.
Large-Item Pickup
Residents can now discard up to three large items each quarter at no cost. Free large-item pickup must now be scheduled at least 48 hours in advance. Please note, no construction materials are accepted through large-item pickup. However, if you are working on a home remodeling project or cleaning out your basement, Meridian Waste now offers discounted residential dumpsters to dispose of these materials at a great rate. Special Accommodations for Collection Services
Our solid waste contractor offers Special Accommodations for Collection Services when all adults at an address have special needs or disabilities that prevent them from setting their trash cart/bags or recycling carts at the curb for collection. If a request for an Accommodation for Collection Services is approved by the City, Meridian Waste will collect the cart/bags at or near the garage door or front door of the home at no additional charge to the resident. As part of this special service, a smaller 35-gallon size cart may also be made available. Meridian Waste performs this special collection on the same day that curbside collection is provided on that street. Yard-Waste Collection
Yard-waste collections begin the first full week in March and continue through the last week of December each year. Cancellations are accepted between Jan. 1, 2024, and Feb. 29, 2024. Residents who do not wish to cancel service will automatically receive yard-waste collection again beginning March 1, 2024. Residents who receive yard-waste pickup should set yard-waste out on the same day they set out trash and recycling. Everything should be at the curb by 6 a.m. on the appropriate morning. Additional Day Trash Service
You have the option to add on a second-day pick-up for trash. There is a fee for the additional pickup. Please call the Solid Waste department at (636) 639-2049 for pricing and to set up second-day trash collection service. The following is the schedule for pickup days:

What Are My Options For Yard Waste Pick-Up?
OPTION 1: WEEKLY YARD WASTE COLLECTION $10 per month
Residents will receive weekly yard-waste pickup starting the first week of March through the last week in December. Residents can rent a yard waste cart for an additional $3 per month or choose to use brown paper yard waste bags. There is a weekly limit of 15 bags. Cancellations for weekly yard waste service are only accepted between Jan. 1 and Feb 28.
OPTION 2: PER BAG SERVICE $4 per bag
Residents who don’t have monthly service, but wish to use the yard-waste, per-bag service, will need to schedule a pickup by calling (636) 639-2049. One-time pickup requires a three-bag minimum at a rate of $4 per bag. This service must be scheduled a minimum of two business days before a resident’s weekly solid waste collection day. Yard waste will need to be placed in paper lawn/leaf yard-waste bags and placed at the curb by 6 a.m.

Personal Yard-Waste Carts: If residents prefer to provide their own yard-waste cart, it must be clearly marked with “Yard-Waste-Only” stickers on the top and both sides of the cart. Residents can request “Yard-Waste-Only” stickers by calling Public Works at (636) 639-2049. We encourage residents to rent a yard-waste cart. However, a personal cart may be used for yard-waste collection only as long as the cart includes ALL the features of the cart displayed below. Carts that do not have these features may not be accepted.
