Week 5 of the Wentzville Police Department Citizens Police Academy – Class of 2025

This week’s Citizens Police Academy session featured a trip to the range for one of the most anticipated sessions—firearms training. Led by members of our Firearms Unit, the evening began with a safety briefing and introduction to our duty weapon platforms. Participants then moved to the firing line for hands-on instruction. With a wide variety of experience levels in the group, our instructors provided individual coaching throughout the night. Several participants showed natural skill, consistently hitting their targets with accuracy. Beyond the range target practice, the evening sparked a few discussions about firearm safety, responsible handling and law enforcement use-of-force considerations. As always, safety was our top priority—and this class delivered both a great learning experience and a fun night.

Thank you to everyone who attended and continue to show interest in learning more about the Wentzville Police Department. We’re looking forward to Week 6!

Thank you for your service!!! I used to be married to a police officer so I know the drill! Can I just please ask for your help? My daughter goes to school at North Point HS. I know there’s been a recent school zone added on North Point Prairie that is a 20 mph zone. Every day I see multiple vehicles ignoring the school zone, yet there is rarely any police presence. Today I witnessed a truck well exceeding the speed limit in the school zone going north on North Point Prairie. I’m guessing in excess of 50 mph. As I was pulling out of the high school’s north entrance after dropping my daughter off, I witnessed the truck going far in excess of speed limit. As I was driving north from the high school, I noted two kids walking to the school in the ditch…. Is there a reason why there are no sidewalks leading to the school? There are also no cross walks. I’m very concerned about the safety of these kids. Especially in light of the cars that disobey the school zone speed limit. What will it take to get sidewalks installed? I just moved here from Oklahoma and school zones there are heavily policed. I haven’t witnessed that in Wentzville. Nick Guccione, is there anything that can be done?

Thanks to each of you for your service and protection ! ,,,,From the folks at Anco Garage Door Service 👍🔥

Today, Chief West, along with several members of the Wentzville Police Department, attended the 33rd Annual St. Louis Area Police Chiefs Association Police Officer Memorial Prayer Breakfast.

This solemn event honors the brave men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty across the St. Louis region. It serves as a reminder of their courage, commitment and the profound impact they made in protecting the communities they served. We are proud to stand alongside law enforcement agencies from across the region to pay tribute to their service and ensure their legacy is never forgotten.
