The Wentzville Water Division will execute urgent repair work on the City’s main water supply transmission main beginning Monday, March 30. This work is taking place before the peak summer usage months to reduce potential impacts on customers; however, customers may still experience reduced pressure during the repair period. We anticipate the repair will be complete within 72 hours. Fireworks Ordinance

For 363 days each year, City ordinance prohibits any person from setting off fireworks within the municipal boundaries of the City of Wentzville. However, an ordinance that was passed on Feb. 8, 2017, now allows fireworks only on July 3 and July 4 of each year, between the hours of noon and 11 p.m. each day. The ordinance states “any person 16 years of age or older or any minor under age 16, with constant adult supervision, may set off, use, burn, explode or fire off *fireworks within the municipal boundaries of the City.” These restrictions will be strictly enforced. Outside of the allowed time frame, a summons may be issued and fireworks may be confiscated.

Please note, fireworks are not allowed to be set off on any property owned by the City including any streets and cul-de-sacs or any park within the City at any time, without a valid permit. Also of note, fireworks stands within city limits were approved by the Board of Aldermen in 2017. By ordinance, a maximum of five stands will be allowed within city limits. There may be additional signs just outside of city limits in St. Charles County.

*Fireworks are defined as: non-rocket, non-missile or aerial fireworks that do not contain a stick or fin, firecrackers, fireworks, torpedoes, bombs, rockets, pinwheels, fire balloons, Roman candles, toy cannons, toy pistols or other fireworks of like kind.

Be a Good Neighbor

After the fireworks are complete, make sure to clean up your area and the area surrounding your residence. Let debris cool completely before putting it into your trash cart. You can allow it to cool in place or put it into a metal container to cool. If debris doesn’t cool completely, trash carts can melt (see photo).
