Why is My Solid Waste Collection Day Changing?
To increase efficiency and maintain high-quality service for our growing Wentzville community, solid waste collection days for some residents are changing beginning the week of Jan. 3, 2022. These changes will affect the residential large-item, trash, recycling and yard-waste pickup schedule. This will allow our hauler to spread out routes more evenly, creating a more efficient collection process. To view your collection day, click here. If you have questions, please call (636) 639-2049.
Is Single-Stream Recycling Coming Back?
Yes! Weekly single-stream recycling is coming back starting Jan. 31! Sorting is now a thing of the past! Plastics, aluminum cans and metal containers, paper, and cardboard can all be included in the same cart. No glass is accepted. Recyclables must be loose in the cart, not bagged. Meridian Waste will provide the standard 65-gallon cart, but 35-gallon carts are available upon request, while supplies last. Personal carts will no longer be accepted to increase efficiency and driver safety.
What's the Scoop on Large-Item Pickup Changes?
In lieu of our previous twice-a-year pickups, you can now discard up to three large items each quarter! However, free large-item pickup must be scheduled in advance.
To schedule your large-item pickup, please visit www.wentzvillemo.gov/swrequest or call (636) 327-5102.
To learn more about Large-Item Pickup, including what's accepted and not accepted, please visit www.wentzvillemo.gov/largeitempickup.
Why Can't I Use My Own Personal Cart?
Personal (noncommercial) carts are easily susceptible to damage by the automatic arm on the solid waste trucks. Unfortunately, many personal carts are unable to be picked up by the automatic arm, leading to inefficient collection and potential safety concerns for the drivers. Moving forward, commercial carts will be provided, and personal carts may not be used. If you need to have your personal solid waste or recycling cart removed free of charge, please call (636) 639-2049 or email solid.waste@wentzvillemo.gov.
Why Are Drop-Off Sites Closed?
Drop-off sites were originally created to provide customers with a way to discard paper and cardboard if they didn't want to pay for curbside pickup. Now that single-stream curbside pickup is included for all customers, the drop-off sites can be eliminated.
How Do I Reserve a Residential Dumpster?
Do you have plans to start a home renovation or basement clean-out this year? Meridian Waste now offers discounted residential dumpsters to dispose of these materials at a great rate. To schedule a residential dumpster, please call Meridian Waste at (314) 291-3131.

Why Can't I Recycle Glass?
Unfortunately, there is no market for glass at this time. Therefore, glass must be put in the trash.
Glass can also be taken to Recycle Works West. Learn more about their location, hours and what items they accept here.
What's the Scoop on Yard-Waste Pickup?
When you sign up for a 10-month service agreement, you will receive weekly yard-waste pickup starting the first week of March through the last week in December. There will be a $4.00 fee per bag/bundle charge above the weekly limit of 15 bags. One-time pickups must be scheduled through www.wentzvillemo.gov/solidwasterequest. There is a three-bag minimum for scheduled yard-waste pickups.
Personal Yard-Waste Carts: If residents prefer to provide their own yard-waste cart, it must be clearly marked with "Yard-Waste-Only" stickers on the top and both sides of the cart. Residents can request "Yard-Waste-Only" stickers by calling Public Works at (636) 327-5101. We encourage residents to rent a yard-waste cart. However, a personal cart may be used for yard-waste collection only as long as the cart includes ALL the features of the cart displayed below. Carts that do not have these features may not be accepted.
Yard-Waste Questions: For questions about yard-waste collection, please call the Public Works Department at (636) 639-2049.
