Green Lantern Senior Center
Wentzville has many organizations that help strengthen our community – one of these is the Green Lantern Senior Center. The following is from Carolyn Foushee, Wentzville resident and Green Lantern supporter.
"One of the best and most enduring organizations to ever be part of the City is the Green Lantern Senior Center, which celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2013. Wentzville is continually growing, with an important segment of that growth stemming from the senior citizen community – and the Wentzville Green Lantern Senior Center has something for everyone. Open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., the center offers many activities including bingo, pool, cards, shuffleboard, Wii, dominoes, line dancing, crafting and monthly birthday parties with live entertainment.
Between February and October, the Green Lantern hosts monthly dances, which are an important part of the center’s fund-raising efforts. The dances feature live entertainment and food, and typically have a fun theme, with attendees dressing up if they wish.
The center is thankful for its fleet of volunteers who do everything from delivering Meals on Wheels to assisting the administrator in the daily functions of the center. And, don’t forget those hot, nutritious meals that are available every day for a nominal donation. If you are looking for a great place to enjoy the company of other seniors, check out the Green Lantern at 506 S. Linn. For more information, call the Wentzville Senior Center Administrator at (636) 327-8720."
