Trash, Recycling and Yard Waste Holiday Collection Schedule

Trash, recycling and yard-waste collection through Meridian Waste Inc., observes only six major holidays each year. However, if the holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday, the schedule will not be affected. The six possibly affected holidays include:

  • New Year's Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day (July 4th)
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Christmas Day
If one of the listed holidays occurs Monday through Friday, sanitation pickup days will occur one day later than normal after the holiday. This will also affect all pickup days following in that week.  Again, if the holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday, the schedule will not be affected.

For example:  If New Year's Day falls on a Monday; trash, recycling and yard-waste collection will be delayed citywide by one day. This means that residents with regular collection scheduled on Monday will be picked up on Tuesday, Tuesday will be picked up on Wednesday, etc.  Therefore, residents with a regular Friday collection will have their trash picked up on the Saturday following the holiday.

Minor holidays such as Martin Luther King Day, Presidents Day, Good Friday or Veterans Day will not affect your trash, recycling or yard-waste collection.
